Qualifications & Training
Dr Simpson has been working as an Ophthalmologist for 13 years. He completed his medical school training in the UK in 2006 and trained full-time as an Ophthalmologist from 2008 to 2017. During this time, he gained experience in the wide range of Ophthalmology subspecialties. He also took 2 years out to perform research on complex retinal and macular diseases, and has published several papers and book chapters on these topics. In 2017, he moved to South Australia to complete a second fellowship year in vitreoretinal surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Social Interests
Dr Simpson’s main interest outside of Ophthalmology is flying. He holds Australian, British and American pilots’ licenses. He hopes to one day use these skills to offer eye services to remote communities.

Consulting as an independent doctor in Mount Barker (Hills Eye Centre) and Murray Bridge (Bridge Clinic).
Operating at Stirling Hospital and Windsor Gardens Day Surgery (private patients) and Mount Barker (public patients)
He holds a Consultant Ophthalmology position at Modbury Hospital, where he performs routine and complex cataract surgery, and treats retinal diseases, including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy as well as many other conditions.
He is a regular visiting Consultant Ophthalmologist to Alice Spring, approximately 6 times a year.
